A massive tank filled with molasses burst open in the here city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that crashed through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, standing at least 25 feet in some areas, was catastrophic. Structures succumbed under the power of the sticky goo.

The aftermath was heartbreaking. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more sustained wounds. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of molasses carnage in its wake.
